About
Dr. Khan is honored to continue the practice that Dr. Michael J. Kania built and feels privileged to serve the patients and families of Asheboro. A third-generation dentist, Dr. Khan grew up in a family dedicated to orthodontics. Both of his parents are practicing orthodontists and their example inspired his own passion for the profession.
Dr. Salaar Khan earned his Bachelor of Arts with Honors from Brown University, where he was inducted into Sigma Xi, the international scientific research honor society. He then completed a Master of Arts in Biotechnology at Columbia University before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. During dental school, Dr. Khan received the Divisional Excellence in Foundational Sciences Award as well as the Office of Admissions Award for Leadership and Service.
Following dental school, Dr. Khan completed a three-year orthodontic residency at Columbia University, where he earned both a Master of Science in Orthodontics and an Advanced Certificate in Orthodontics. His research on virtual reality and augmented reality applications in dental education, Visuo-Haptic VR and AR Guidance for Dental Nerve Block Education, was published by IEEE.
Dr. Khan and his wife, Dr. Silvia Baila, who is also an orthodontist, are thrilled to call North Carolina home! Outside the office, they enjoy cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and their young son, Luca.
